Who are we?

We are a group of fifty-ish, single  friends who are doing life together.  We first bonded as a friend group at church, our bond based on our faith and walk with God. This bond has seen us through the death of parents, declining health of parents, loss of pets, loss of jobs – all the things!

Our bond grew stronger through a love of travel and experiencing new things.  We have wonderful adventures at home and beyond. We have loved all the experiences we’ve had so far, but each of us have a “type” when it comes to a relaxing getaway.

We are silly, supportive, and even a little bit sassy!

This is our “living life” blog. Our aim is to intersect the fun and challenges of travel with lessons we have learned from each other and others in our everyday life. After all, we spend 2-4 weeks in travel each year, but we do a lot of living in our “out of travel time”.  So although most posts will be focused on travel and destinations, we’ll also share our experiences in all aspects of our life – recipes, health related posts, books and authors we love, living a life of joy, caring for aging parents, stories from our lives, and so much more.

Meet the Chicks

Heather

Heather was been blessed to run a dental office for over a quarter of a century!  Her awesome dentist was quite generous, giving her multiple weeks of time off to travel.

If we are on a coast, even if it’s cold weather, you can bet Heather is taking off her shoes to at least dip a toe in the ocean.  She is an awesome beachcomber!  (The beach is her happy place!)

Heather is our go-to for any item we might need on our adventure.  She definitely comes prepared! She’s the queen of “capsule” packing.  Need help choosing a few items that can go together to create multiple outfits?  Heather’s your girl!

Latisha

From an early age, I’ve been driven to achieve—straight A’s, honor society, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, career, CPA certification–but my motto is “work hard, play hard”.  I’ve always enjoyed traveling, from childhood trips with parents or grandparents to adventures with friends.  I enjoy any time I get to spend with friends or family.

I am the one in our group who is single by choice.  Knowing I could not balance career and family, I chose to pursue a career.  After years of 80+ hour work weeks, I am attempting to learn balance.

Reading is my favorite hobby.  I’m currently obsessed with historical romance, but also read a lot of self-improvement type books and business books.

In the last couple of years, I have developed a passion for a healthier lifestyle—whole foods, exercise, self care.

Michelle

It was never my intention to live a single, childless life, but here I am…embracing it and loving my life to the fullest! I spent many years chaperoning middle school students on educational trips around the world.  I always loved seeing new places and learning new things. After 11 years traveling with kids, I “retired” and started creating my own travel experiences.   I have been in education for over thirty years and can’t wait for the adventures that await when I retire (but give me a few more years). I’m looking forward to having more time to explore my state, country, and world.

A couple of years ago I adopted the “Choose Joy” motto.  Sometimes you just have to say “nope – not today”! That’s when you take a deep breath and remember to CHOOSE joy!

I love researching and planning for our adventures.  Where will your next adventure take you? I’d love to help you plan it!

Meet the Dude

Ron

First of all – he’s a saint!  He puts up with three (type-A) women.  He keeps us grounded. He’s our main driver and gopher.  He can clean like a boss!  He’s a lover of gadgets.  He keeps us in stitches. The dude is hilarious! He sings out loud and proud and dances like no one is watching.  He’s our “fixer” and advice giver.

Don’t ask Ron about the specifics of our next adventure. He will freely admit that he’s ready to go, but just wants to show up.  And that’s ok – he’s our entertainer, driver, and overall protector (you know – from bugs and such).
